This kid can eat!

After our 9 month appointment with Wes, we decided to have him eat what we are eating as long as it was ok for him.  We have discovered he loves chicken, meatballs, green beans, grilled cheese, pasta and much more.  Hopefully he will be able to continue this and we can get him off baby food sooner.  We are over an hour in to our afternoon nap.  Hopefully he will sleep close to 2 hours!

A quiet peaceful house...

It is 8:45 and both boys are sound asleep.  What makes this even better is that I did it all by myself because Nick is at a dinner networking event.  I finally bought the Healthy Sleep Habits book and was reading it the past 2 nights.  I realized that I was putting Wes to bed too late and therefore he was overtired and not napping and generally fussy during the day.  Now that I have put him to bed at 7:15 (still in our bed and not crib) he has been sleeping for at least 11 hours.  Granted, this is not entirely on his own as I join him in bed later in the evening and nurse him at night.  However, today at Ms. Lori's he slept 1 and 1/2 hours by himself in the afternoon!  This is a huge improvement over the 30 minutes he slept and fought sleep in the past.  Now I am hoping to put into place more recommendations to improve his sleep even more.  In the past 2 months he has only taken 1 to 2 ounces of breast milk.  Today, he drank a total of 5 oz on his own!  I have to believe that a well rested child is better for all of us who take care of him.

Now with at least an hour extra in my evening I get to decide how to spend it.  This is one happy workin' mama... at least until one of them cries...

Not to forget about Luke... he came home with a white sticker on his hand.  When I asked what it was he told me it was leprosy and he needed to take a bath in the Jordan river to get it off.  I guess he is really retaining the bible stories he has been learning at Ms. Lori's.

January at Lori's (boys preschool)

The boys go to Ms. Lori for preschool/daycare 4 days a week. She has sent us pictures in the past but I have not been able to download them onto my computer... only order the prints online.  She does so many wonderful things with the kids she has and makes it so much fun to be there.

I am 9 months old!

It was our first family of 4 trip to the doctors office yesterday.  Luke had his 3 year old check up and Wes had his 9 month check.  Wes went first and poor guy, come to find out that he has an ear infection.  I wonder how long he has had that for?  It has been 10 days since he got his 102 fever but has not been acting overly fussy or pulling on his ear.  We talked to the doctor about Wes not sleeping well during the day and at night.  She said that we need to cry it out soon.  We would have to wait until next weekend until we were sure that his ear infection cleared up.  Other then that, he is a happy, healthy baby.

Wes:
weight: 18 pounds 12 ounces
height: 27in

Luke:
weight: 32 pounds
height: have to call back and see how much since I did not get this.

Luke is also doing great according to our doc.  She asked him several questions like what he eats and if he is a boy or girl.  He was very good for his check-up and we came home with a script for a topical cream for his dry skin.

We made it out of there after over an hour.  I think our doc spent at least 30 to 45 minutes with us.  She is great and does not rush us but we have to get there early so we are not in her office all day long!

Too much fun!

After Luke's party, I was talking to Nick about what a great group of friends we have in Denver.  After 4+ years it is wonderful to have built these friendships.  One group of friends includes Nick's two buddies from elementary school.  As it turns out, the wives are all from out of state and get along great.  We even get together more often then the guys!  We decided that since we don't really get to go out for date nights that we would do a rotation.  One couple would go out while the other 2 couples would watch the kids.  Our first night was tonight and it was a great success.  Everyone had fun either chasing after the 5 kids or out on a date.  Here is a cute picture of all our oldest kiddos.

Happy 3rd birthday Luuuuuuuuke!

Luke wanted to open up this present from the moment he saw it.  He was not disappointed because
it was a Thomas Lego set.

Luke just loves playing football and does "down set hike" with Dad.

Wishing you a very happy 3rd birthday.

On his actual birthday, Luke's theme was, "It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to!"  In the early morning of his birthday, Wes spiked a 102 temp which meant that Luke spent the first half at Ms. Lori's house (his home daycare/preschool) and then came home with me at lunch.  Nick then went into work after his mom arrived at 11:30.  I think the combination of the exciting morning and a 30 minute nap in the car made it too much for him and so he melted all afternoon.  Poor guy... nothing a little cupcake and presents could not fix.

On Friday, Grammy and Poppa came over and we had pizza and salad for dinner and more present opening.  What fun!  This is when he opened up his electronic cake and has been singing with it ever since.  It is too cute and you can even blow out the candles.
