Happy 2nd Birthday WES!

The weather did not cooproate with us today as we were planning on having the party at Westlands Park. The rain came in sheets early this morning so we moved the party to our house.  It was a great success!
The boys just LOVED the Thomas cake that Grammy Belitz made!

Happy Easter Eve!

Can I just say that our neighborhood is just awesome! One of the kids organized an egg hunt for all of the kids and the boys had a great time.  The girls even took Luke and Wes around to find eggs.  Both boys had a great time this year.  It was fun to see Wes really getting into looking for eggs.  At the end he kept saying,  "More chocolate!"

Then it was home to dye Easter eggs.  Luke kept asking to do this all day.  While we turned our back for a half second, Wes decided to eat a dye pellet.  I guess to him it looked like the candy he just ate.  Oh no!  So we immediately called Poison Control and they assured us that sodium bicarbonate was not toxic and not to worry about it.  Whew!  I am happy to say that the pellet is already out of his system and these things must not digest in almost 2 year olds.  All there was to show in addition to the pellet was an orange booty.  (TMI)

Backyard fun

This spring has been so mild that we have enjoyed the backyard early.  Wes loves to swing on the big swing all by himself... no more bucket swing.  Luke learned how to get started pumping on the swing all by himself.

On another note... some things that Luke has been saying
-Luke: Mom.... Dad is the boss, you are just the pretend boss.  (ouch!)

Dad: did mom get the mail today
Luke: yes but she put it in a place you'll never find it

Dad: Luke tell me about the porcupines. What do they have?
Luke: Pokers.
Dad: yes they have quills. What do they do with them?
Luke: they have them so if a bear steps on them they say "ouch!"
Dad: yes they are for protection
Luke: like a cactus plant so no one touches it!
Dad: yes! That's a very good connection, Luke.

Celebrating Mom's 60th in Claremont and Mammoth

I took the boys and we visited my family in CA for 10 days.  We started our trip in Claremont and Long Beach and then headed up to Mammoth to ski.

Picking oranges and kumquats in my parents backyard.
Celebrating Mom's 60th at Gramci and Grandad's house.  Both my mom's side and dad's side were there!

Future Mozarts!  I have fun memories and also memories of wanting piano practice to be over with  on this piano.

Riding bikes in front yard with Grandad.  Check out the bike Luke is on... it was mine when I was his age!

Dad and I got to play tennis twice!  Super fun.  My tennis league starts in a month here in Highlands Ranch.

The boys did great on the 5 hour drive up to Mammoth.  It has been a very light snow fall for the mountain this year but we enjoyed the sunshine and warmer weather.
Taking a ride to the Canyon Lodge with my gear.

Grandy and Grandad kept the boys busy while I was out skiing.  Luke loved to paint and Wes had a blast decorating his door hanger with zoo foam stickers.

Gotta love the Billy Bass singing fish!

Luke had his first official ski lesson in Mammoth.  He did not want to go out at first but then had a blast. He just needs to work on making a bigger slice in his pizza!  Way to go Luuuuuuuke!!!

The boys took the gondola and bus every day and looked forward to the trips.  Wes kept saying bus! and Luke preferred the gondola.  The best part was that it was free.

Uncle Dean and Holly arrived up in Mammoth on Thursday evening late so we were able to spend the long weekend with them.  The boys loved them!
Convict Lake Restaurant was the official spot for Mom's 60th birthday celebration on the day of her birthday.  The boys were fabulous for such a nice place and the loved the buttered noodles.  We enjoyed a super nice bottle of wine that dad was saving for over 15 years.  Happy Birthday Mom!
