4 Generations of Damuth's

Several weeks ago I posted that Wes' great, great, great grandfather was George Wesley Damuth but did not know much about him. Since then, my Grandma Damuth (Damuth is my maiden name) has done some research for me and came up with this photograph. In it, my dad is 2 weeks old and being held by his father. To the left of his dad is his grandfather, George William Damuth (born May 17th 1900) and to the far right is George Wesley Damuth ( born May 10th 1862). What was interesting is that George Wesley passed away only a few months after that picture was taken.

Out and about...

Well... I guess I did not realize that it had been a week since my last post. With that said, life has been busy with being a MOB (mother of boys). On Monday, it was the start to my new life of being home with both boys.
On Saturday, we all took a trip to a local "natural" baby store to get a different baby carrier for Wes. The ego baby has an infant insert that Wes does not like at all. I ended up with a Moby wrap which is basically a long piece of cloth that you wrap around yourself and put baby inside. I was able to take a picture of Wes in it while right next to me.
A few friends have stopped by for a visit, and that has been great for my sanity both for me to have someone to talk to and also friends for Luke to play with. I took the first step today and took a walk all by myself with both boys to my local Starbucks. It felt great to get out and walk beyond the walls of my house. Luke also discovered dandylions when he went to the park with my mom. Now when we are out he is great at spotting them. I am trying to teach him to blow on it but he usually just throws them on the ground.
This afternoon Luke decided to get inside my breastfeeding pillow. He has done this before but has always just sat there on the couch. Today he got in the pillow and had his Baby Curious George with him along with Wes' blanket. He then looked a baby curious and said, "Are you hungry? Want some milk?" Then he pulled up his shirt and nursed baby curious. This was too cute! Then Luke said, "Want some more?" and proceeded to nurse baby curious on the other side. Did I mention that Luke is the sweetest boy and has the biggest heart and loves his baby brother? He loves to lay down next to Wes and always asks him if he wants to watch him play trains. I am so blessed to have such a sweet boy. Now if they could just nap at the same time it would be great. I am getting 30 minutes at the most during the day which leads to one tired mamma!

Family Photo

Here are Wes' grandparents on the Damuth side - Grandy and Grandad

Weight check

Yesterday, all 4 of us went to the doctors office to get Wes weighed. My doc wanted to make sure that he was gaining enough and did not want to wait until the 1 month appointment. He passed and now is 6 pounds 10 ounces. Since he seems to be a great nurser I was not worried before. Today it seems that he decided to get more of a personality and wanted to be held or nursed all morning. I passed him off to Nick so I could take a nap and Nick snuggled with Wes for 50 minutes before he fell asleep. Hopefully this is an exception since I still need my naps. :) We are getting our swing from my mother in laws house tomorrow... yea! She was so kind in storing it for us in her basement.

Farmer's Market Fun!

I took my boys out to the farmers market yesterday to get some fresh air and sample the yummy food. It was great to walk around and finally use my double BOB stroller which I love! It is on the big side but goes around very easily provided that you do not bump into someone else! Wes still seems a bit small to be in his carseat and in the BOB. He started to gag a bit so that made me nervous. Baby boy just needs to keep eating (he is doing much better at that) and get bigger so he fits better.

12 day check up

My dad is now in town and all 5 of us (mom, dad, Luke, Wes and me) wen to go see Dr. Staerz today for Wes' 12 day check up. He looks great and is gaining weight well. I had been needing to nurse him every 2 to 3 hours in the day and no more then one 4 hour stretch at night. Now I got the go ahead to give him two 5 hour stretches at night if he goes that long. This kid can sleep not like his older brother who was very fussy at night. Nick is practically getting a full nights sleep since I am up to nurse, change a diaper and nurse on the other side. Wes will probably decide to be fussy when all the help leaves. :)

P.S. Any good apps for the iPhone? I need to keep myself entertained when I am up at night with Wes.

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day we went over to my in-laws to hang out and have a yummy meal. The new Belitz clan posed for a picure.
