Celebrating Mom's 60th in Claremont and Mammoth

I took the boys and we visited my family in CA for 10 days.  We started our trip in Claremont and Long Beach and then headed up to Mammoth to ski.

Picking oranges and kumquats in my parents backyard.
Celebrating Mom's 60th at Gramci and Grandad's house.  Both my mom's side and dad's side were there!

Future Mozarts!  I have fun memories and also memories of wanting piano practice to be over with  on this piano.

Riding bikes in front yard with Grandad.  Check out the bike Luke is on... it was mine when I was his age!

Dad and I got to play tennis twice!  Super fun.  My tennis league starts in a month here in Highlands Ranch.

The boys did great on the 5 hour drive up to Mammoth.  It has been a very light snow fall for the mountain this year but we enjoyed the sunshine and warmer weather.
Taking a ride to the Canyon Lodge with my gear.

Grandy and Grandad kept the boys busy while I was out skiing.  Luke loved to paint and Wes had a blast decorating his door hanger with zoo foam stickers.

Gotta love the Billy Bass singing fish!

Luke had his first official ski lesson in Mammoth.  He did not want to go out at first but then had a blast. He just needs to work on making a bigger slice in his pizza!  Way to go Luuuuuuuke!!!

The boys took the gondola and bus every day and looked forward to the trips.  Wes kept saying bus! and Luke preferred the gondola.  The best part was that it was free.

Uncle Dean and Holly arrived up in Mammoth on Thursday evening late so we were able to spend the long weekend with them.  The boys loved them!
Convict Lake Restaurant was the official spot for Mom's 60th birthday celebration on the day of her birthday.  The boys were fabulous for such a nice place and the loved the buttered noodles.  We enjoyed a super nice bottle of wine that dad was saving for over 15 years.  Happy Birthday Mom!

An adventure under the sea!

I had not been to the Denver Aquarium in a long time and thought it would be a great winter place to visit.  Wes especially loves animals and could not get enough of the moon jelly fish.  Luke loved the mermaids and was asking all kinds of questions about them.  He really enjoyed meeting them as well!

We met the mermaids!

Wes with Great Grandma Vi and Grammy Joanne

Luke loved the mermaids!!!

Check out those teeth!

I gotta face only a mother could love... (wolf eel)  Interestingly enough, he picks his mate by biting her abdomen and then wrapping himself around her.  They mate for life.

Stockshow!

What a Denver tradition and what a fun event!  The stockshow has been around for more then 100 years here in Denver and we try to make it an annual family trip.  This year we went with Luke and Grammy. Nick and Wes were not 100% so they stayed home.  Luke enjoyed looking around but wanted to get out of they cattle and horse pens as soon as possible.  The people there were preparing the cattle for show so it was full of action.  We also got to see a rodeo clown and ropes expert.  Now home for the big Broncos game tonight!

Luke's first time on skis!

Luke was so excited to try out his new skis the day we got them back.  Since it was a great, sunny day but still snow in the backyard, we decided to try it out.  Luke did great and Wes loved to watch him.  Nick got a great workout hauling Luke up the slope in our backyard.

Happy New Year 2012!

Nick and I on New Years Eve at our neighborhood party.

We rang in the new year with style... going to church, watching the Broncos with Tim Tebow and having the Nelsons and Rufners over for dinner.  Crazy with all 11 of us but fun... would not have had it any other way!
