Wildlife Experience trick or treat and Pumpkin carving

I was told by my friend Katy that the Wildlife Experience had a fun trick or treat street.  I headed out this morning with the boys all dressed up.  Luke enjoyed getting candy and Wes had fun in the stroller.  Both boys loved the Halloween story time there.

 When we got back it was time to carve pumpkins.  My yearly tradition is to carve out the pumpkins in the same costumes as the boys.  Luke is a pirate and Wes is a pirate parrot.  During the carving Luke was less interested in the pumpkins but Wes really wanted to scoop out the insides and kept coming over after it was done for more.

Bed Head

So the term "sleeping like a baby" is not really a great saying in our house as Wes wakes up at least twice a night either because he is teething or just wanting to play.  Early Friday morning - 3 AM - he woke up at wanted me to read him a book.  Perfect.... so I took him downstairs and managed to cuddle up to him on the couch and we both fell back asleep.  The cute thing was that he woke up with this awesome bed head.  Just had to take a picture of it.  

 Luke came to join us on the couch in the morning.

First snowfall

Luke was so excited to shovel the driveway when the snow came that we went out to get him a "Luke sized shovel."

 Wes stayed inside and kept pressing his nose up against the glass door.

Playin'

It has been so much fun to see Wes really start to enjoying playing with the train table. Luke and Wes still battle it out for territory but they are getting better playing with eachother....slowly.

The Great Pumpkin Chase

Because we are family that absolutely, positively can NOT make use of the modern convenience of going to an established pumpkin depository, such as the grocery store, we trekked far and wide to the eastern plains of Colorado in search of the perfect pumpkin(s) at Mile High Farms.

The farm offered much more than a pumpkin patch-- we also petted a collection of imprisoned ruminants (see below) and squealers (see further below...not the baby).

Also at the farm was the greatest amusement invented since the first brave man shot himself out of a cannon-- the VELCRO WALL!  As a proof of my commitment to the science of defying gravity with Velcro, I will willingly declare my weight to the world (180 pounds) and assert that the velcro did, in fact, support my weight and keep me stuck to the wall (see photographic proof below).

A good time was had by all...

Day Out with Thomas 2011

We had a blast at our 2nd Day out with Thomas this year.  Both the boys loved the train ride and Luke did not want to stop looking at the model trains they had.  He told me, "Mom, I am in to Thomas."  Must be something I said about him earlier to a friend.  It was less crazy then last year because Wes is older.  Our plan to go to the Coors brewery did not come through as we were a bit tired after all the excitement and headed home for naps.

First Soccer Practice

Luke just loves playing soccer in the backyard so I signed him up for a soccer clinic through the rec center. He just loved it and already learned so much on the first day like trapping the ball and kicking with his laces and not his toe.  Coach Tammy also makes it fun with the different games that she plays with the kiddos.
